I may end up growing a beard, thanks to bitcoin.

TLDR: I lost the debit card I use online. Replacing it took 10 days and I had to manually update all the sites where I had used it. So I tried asking them to take bitcoin. So far, it's not going so well...
Full story: I was out at a restaurant, paying with a PayPal debit card that is one step removed from my bank, which provides me a bit of extra security. It's the kind of card that you can set daily spending limits on, and emails transactions as soon as the card is swiped. Pretty sophisticated, and I've come to rely on it quite a bit. It's not bitcoin, but it serves a purpose.
When I got home, I discovered that the card had gone missing. I called the restaurant and they hadn't seen it, so I immediately went online and deactivated the card. I was told that it would take 7-10 days to receive a new card, all of the sites and apps where this card was stored would need to be updated. Since I didn't have the new card number, I would actually need to do this twice, once to replace it temporarily with a credit card, and then again when the debit card arrived. Quite a pain.
I started contacting the companies where I had been using this card to ask about the possibility of accepting bitcoin instead. One by one, they all said no. Even some of the supposedly more progressive companies, such as Dollar Shave Club, Uber, and the VoIP phone service I use for my business. They all gave me the same sort of answer... We're aware of bitcoin, but we have no plans to begin accepting it. Basically, just a blow-off.
I got into a bit of a conversation with the Dollar Shave Club support rep, who seemed to genuinely want to help, but obviously couldn't. Not being a werewolf, I now have more blades than I can possibly use in 6 months, so I decided to give them one more chance to take my money, but they ended up just closing my account.
So, long story short, I may end up growing a beard, thanks to bitcoin.
